The British Meat Processors Association (BMPA) is the professional organisation dedicated to the protection and advancement of its members – food manufacturers who use meat as a raw material.

The objectives of the BMPA Manufacturing Standard
All members of the BPMA adhere to the BMPA Manufacturing Standard for Certification. This demonstrates members' commitment to safety, quality and excellence in the manufacture of their meat products. The objectives of the Standard are:

The BMPA Standard
The publication incorporates all the requirements of the BRC Technical Standard and Protocol for Companies Supplying Retailer Branded Food Products, Issue 3 (April 2002). The publication also contains additional requirements, over and above those required by the BRC Technical Standard. All such requirements are clearly marked in Appendix 3.

The BMPA/EFSIS Evaluation Service Protocol describes the procedures and processes associated with evaluations against the BMPA Manufacturing Standard for Certification. This has been included in this document for your convenience.

Do you have to be a member of BMPA to be able to comply with the requirements of the BMPA Manufacturing Standard?
The BMPA Manufacturing Standard is open to non-members of the BMPA who wish to demonstrate the highest of manufacturing standards to customers and potential customers. Non-members evaluated against the BMPA Standard are required to pay an annual licence fee. The licence fee is waived for BMPA members.
